Laser Material ProcessingA major focus of our work is femtosecond laser material processing, including glass-to-metal welding, ablation, cutting, drilling, and refractive index modification.

Femtosecond lasers offer unique advantages due to their fundamentally different interaction mechanisms compared to nanosecond and CW lasers. Their operation is dominated by nonlinear absorption processes and ultrafast energy deposition, typically minimizing thermal damage to the surrounding material.

We explore these distinctive interaction regimes to enable advanced and precise material processing techniques.
